How This Powerball Ticket Check Actually Works
When you check my Powerball ticket requests come in, all that really has to happen is a set comparison and a ladder lookup. We count how many of your 7 numbers appear among the 7 drawn, note separately whether your Powerball matches the one drawn from the barrel of 20, and then walk the nine divisions from the top down. The first division your line satisfies is the one it takes — you are never paid twice for the same entry, and you are always awarded the best division you qualify for.
That last detail is where hand-checking goes wrong. The Australian ladder is not ordered purely by how many main numbers you matched. Four numbers with the Powerball is Division 6. Five numbers without the Powerball is Division 7, which sits below it. A player who counts five matches and assumes they have beaten a friend on four has read the ladder backwards. The other frequent mistake is checking against the wrong draw. Australian Powerball is drawn every Thursday at 6:30pm AWST, and a multi-week entry stays live across several of them. If you bought a four-week entry, the same numbers have four separate results, and only one of them is the one you watched. Put the draw date in the optional field so the result carries the label you need when you go to claim.
What a Division Result Does Not Tell You
This page returns a division and the published odds for it, and stops there. It does not print a dollar amount, because no Australian operator publishes a fixed amount for divisions 2 through 9 — the money in each division depends on the size of the pool and how many entries share it. The single published constant is the Division 1 minimum of $4,000,000, which jackpots to the following draw when nobody claims it. Anything more precise than that would be a number we made up, and we would rather be useful than confident.
Nor is a division here an official result. It is arithmetic on the numbers you typed. Retailers, The Lott and Lotterywest all run their own verification against the official draw record, and that record is what pays. Treat this as the fast answer that tells you whether the trip to the newsagency is worth making.
Before You Claim
Sign the back of the entry as soon as it looks like a winner, and photograph both sides. Prizes can only be claimed from the state in which the ticket was purchased. An entry bought in Broome is a Lotterywest entry and cannot be claimed at a Queensland outlet, no matter how small the division. Registered players have their entries recorded against their player card, which is the simplest way to avoid losing a docket, but an unregistered paper entry is a bearer instrument — whoever holds it holds the prize.

Questions Australian Players Ask
Why do I have to type the drawn numbers in myself?
Because we do not yet hold a verified Australian results feed, and printing a draw result we cannot verify would be worse than asking you for ten seconds of typing. Copy the numbers from the broadcast, from your operator, or from the docket a retailer printed for you, and the check runs against exactly what you supply.
Does the order of my numbers matter when I check my Powerball ticket?
No. The 7 main numbers are compared as a set, so 3, 9, 14 checks identically to 14, 9, 3. Only the Powerball is positional, because it comes out of a separate barrel of 20 and has to match that ball specifically.
Can the Powerball be the same number as one of my main numbers?
Yes. The two barrels are independent, so a Powerball of 12 can sit alongside a main number 12 on the same line. That is why the checker validates the Powerball separately and only rejects repeats inside the 7 main numbers.
Will this tell me how much I won?
No, and that is deliberate. Only the Division 1 minimum of $4,000,000 is published as a fixed figure. Every other division pays a share that depends on the pool and on how many entries land in it that week, so any dollar amount we printed would be a guess. We give you the division and the published odds, and your operator gives you the amount.
Is my ticket data saved anywhere?
No. The numbers travel in the address bar, the comparison happens in memory, and nothing is written to a database or a cookie. Close the tab and the check is gone.
